Spandrel Flashings
Spandrel Flashing A goes across, with two 45 degree kicks in the middle, and then goes back across with a 90 degree return on the back.
A Spandrel Flashing A is a type of through wall flashing which should normally be applied to all steel lintels and shelf angles that carry exterior masonry facings. Material should be equal to one of the following:
- Copper uniformly coated on both sides with an acid proof, alkali proof, elastic bituminous compound. Coating shall be factory applied.
- Copper bonded to and between two layers of coarsely woven asphalt-saturated cotton fabric by means of asphalt mastic, the entire assemblage corrugated the full width of the sheet.
- Copper reinforced with interlacing sisal fibers and bonded with asphalt between two layers of asphalt.
Spandrel Flashing B maintains a drip kick on the front and then goes across with two 45 degree bends in the middle, ending with a 90 degree bend located at the back.
Spandrel Flashing style B is designed to promote the utmost protection.
Z Form Spandrel Flashing A provides a 3-way mechanical bond and extends across with 2 forty-five degree kicks located in the center, and then returns ax cross with a 90 degree bend on the back.
A 3-way Spandrel Flashing A is begins from the outside bottom edge of the shelf angle, then proceeds up the beam and then is brought through the wall.
Z Form Spandrel Flashing B has a drip kick in the front, then goes across with two 45 degree bends located in the middle, and terminates at a 90 degree bend on the back.
