What is a Spandrel Flashing A?


A Spandrel Flashing A is a type of through wall flashing which should normally be applied to all steel lintels and shelf angles that carry exterior masonry facings. Material should be equal to one of the following:
  • Copper uniformly coated on both sides with an acid proof, alkali proof, elastic bituminous compound. Coating shall be factory applied.
  • Copper bonded to and between two layers of coarsely woven asphalt-saturated cotton fabric by means of asphalt mastic, the entire assemblage corrugated the full width of the sheet.
  • Copper reinforced with interlacing sisal fibers and bonded with asphalt between two layers of asphalt.
