Roof Flashings
Through-wall flashings are used to divert moisture that has entered the wall to the outside before it can cause damage. This flashing method is considered the most preventative method of controlling leaks, except in areas exposed to earthquakes.
B&B Sheet Metal specializes in the fabrication of all kinds of through wall flashings:
- Smooth flashings
- Z Form flashings
We have custom built a machine that puts 3/16th sawtooth bends every 3 inches perpendicular to the edges in the flashing. These flashings are mechanically keyed to bond with mortar in 3 directions while simultaneously acting as weepage in case any moisture escapes into the wall. Through wall flashings are typically fabricated in 54" long pieces but can be made in longer lengths if necessary.

Smooth Coping Flashings are a through wall flashing that is set under the coping stones. Smooth refers to the texture of the material that is used; if we are using a flat piece of sheet metal and bending it into the desired shape, then we typically refer to it as a "smooth" flashing.
|
|
Smooth Grade Flashings are designed to protect the water conditions inside the wall at the grade level. These are completely customizable but we see them typically made in the catalogued shapes.
|
|
Lintel Flashings are located where any lintel exists (a support beam for an opening such as a window, door, etc.). A Lintel Flashing shall extend the full length of the lintel.

|
Smooth Roof Line Flashings are made to protect the inside portion of walls at the roof- line level. We offer these flashings in almost any material but stainless steel or copper is usually the material of choice.

Smooth Sill Flashings are used to provide a water protection option over the sill areas inside the walls. We recommend using these as an extra measure of protection, since this serves to support one of the most vulnerable areas inside the wall.

Smooth Spandrel Flashings start at the outside bottom edge of the shelf angle, then go up the beam and then are brought through the wall turning up on the inside a minimum of 2 inches.

Z Form Coping Flashing are a through wall flashing that is set under the coping stones. The Z-form refers to the texture of the material that is used; if we are using an unmalleable pre-shaped piece of metal it is considered a Z form.

Z Form Grade Flashings are designed to protect the water conditions inside the wall at the grade level.

Z Form Lintel Flashings creates an impervious membrane and support for the lintel -- the horizontal structural member (beam) that supports the load over an opening such as a door or window.

Z Form Roof Line Flashings provide easy to use kickouts that are placed right under or behind the shingles and step flashing. Since they are molded you don't have to rely on welded or soldered units that could fail, and obviating the need to bend the piece on site.

Z Form Sill Flashings are applied first up against the bottom of the window sill and over the fin extending beyond the sides of the window jamb fin and side flashing at least 2 inches.

Z Form Spandrel Flashings start from the outside toe of thes helf angle, ascend up the face of the beam and then through the wall, turning up on the inside not less than 2� with weep holes.
